I am so conflicted
I am currently running out of ideas for my Human Doctor series for now. Not by choice, but just some bad writer's block when it comes to that series.

For some odd reason though, I have been thinking of ideas for the Doctor to have a new companion. A pre-Rose companion. So a companion for the Ninth Doctor before he meets the blonde girl (yeah, girl).

But, in order to get the Nonth Doctor semi in character, I have to watch the first series of New Who. Except, I can't seem to get through them without getting mad at Rose. I keep skipping a lot of scenes.

How in the world am I going to get through the series? Martha and Donna I can get through just fine. But what about Rose?

EDIT:

I have been watching the episodes with John Simm and now I am thinking back on the Master one-shot I wrote. I may not write a story with that original character from it; but something along the line of it.

The story I am referring to is titled Moonlit Serenade. I am not going to use the OC from that (as I said) but a storyline close to it.

It's less than 13 hours, though... just do it one hour at a time :P I can relate, though. I will say she's not QUITE as bad with Nine as she was with Ten. And a pre-Rose companion would be VERY interesting, since I kinda see "Rose" as being fairly close to after the Time War (but that's more my own canon based on some one-liners in "Rose").

Though I COULD see Rose being the Doctor's first Earthling Companion after the War.... there's lots of potential there :D

Sorry to hear about the writer's block. Mine seems to have lifted a bit now that I have Human!Doctor's name sorted. :D My plan is to post that chapter before this weekend... but we'll see, it's a busy week and Monday's already over :S

She is better with Nine, I will admit that. I guess my problem is is that I then watch Series 2 and begin to wonder what in the world happened. I guess that's what makes watching Series 1 harder because I'm trying to figure it out.

I juggled with this idea for a long time. Actually, it was my first one. Nine is my fave so I wanted to see and write it. I guess now's my chance!

I hate writer's block. Hopefully it will end soon!

Series 1 to 2 differences? Quite simple: Series 1 WASN'T about the 'love story.' And as much as I love Ten, he really was in a sense created just for Rose. So, then you have two "pretty characters" in love and that never quite works. Also? Rose's selfishness becomes obvious. Ten's doesn't until Series 3.

Oh I totally think you should do it :D

I hate writer's block as well, maybe writing Nine will help? That tends to do me good. Write something else rather than stop writing altogether.

I see what you mean. Series 1 wasn't a love story; it just turned into a really bad one.

I think he was created for the blonde also. I love Ten; but give me a break! Now I don't mind romance in my sci-fi; but not like that!

She did become more selfish as the series dragged on; which is probably why Series 2 (& 4) Rose is the Rose I think is canon.

It's coming along!
