Well, after long last, here is the beginning of my rewatch of Doctor Who. And of course, the obvious starting point is "Rose".
This wasn't my first intro to the series (that goes to another episode). Besides the fact that the special effects were kinda cheesy, it was actually a good plot.
Now some of you know that I am not a Rose fan, but I will say that I am fond of her in Series 1. I can relate to her in the beginning. Everyone longs for something more in life and seek it out. And I also admired her curiosity. Who wouldn't be curious about you were almost killed in the first place?
Even though her screentime was limited, I loved Jackie in this episode. Her flirting with the Doctor was just epic in my opinion.
And, of course, the Doctor. I love Eccleston's Doctor. He was my first Doctor and that's how it ever going to be. The pain that a viewer can subtly tell is fantastic, and the viewer can tell that he was lonely, even though that he would not admit it. He was so straightfoward in this episode as well as honest that helped me really connect to the show.
And how the Doctor and Rose worked together was good - not great - but good. She worked really well with him and helped him see that life is worth living.
As I mentioned before, the effects were kinda cheesy. I guess from being a sci-fi nut I can tell, but it was not all bad. The plotline was good and am ready for future adventures!
